Ginger, Zingiber officinale (ഇഞ്ചി – Inji for fresh and ചുക്ക് – chukku for dried -in Malayalam) is a tropical/sub-tropical plant and is called in ancient Ayurvedic texts ‘universal medicine’. The root – rhizome – is used either fresh or dried and powdered.
