Must definitely take home with you:
MURIVENNA -from the Malayalam language literally meaning “wound -oil”.
As the name suggests you can apply the oil on all kinds of wounds ;-).
It has antiseptic, wound healing properties, stops wound bleeding and is pitta balancing.
Take it home with you for things like:
sprains, pain (think of neck, back and shoulder…), swelling, stiffness, fractures, inflamed joints, bruises, insect bites, Herpes simplex and H. zoster even Akne, burns, old and fresh wounds, ulcers and for your old grandma who might lie in bed all the time and suffer from decubitus – so all in all: a must have!
You can apply it locally for example:
– as a Pichu (where a piece of cloth which was dipped in the oil is put on a wound and left there for some time),
or
– as in a Vasti (where oil is put in a small ring of dough on a specific area on the body) and you can massage the whole body, but it is not suitable for nasya (oiling the inside of the nose).
Murivenna is as such not a classical Ayurvedic oil. It stems from our Kerali tradition.
The oil is prepared from Coconut oil, Rice bran water, Pongamia glabra (an oil-producing tree), betel leaves, Aloe Vera, Moringa oleifera, Shataveri and onion amongst others.
Due to the onion it has a little funny smell, but the benefit outweighs it completely!
If you live in a colder climate than Kerala the oil will get hard and you should warm it up before application.
Shall we put some aside for you?
